Death Battle Revy vs Max Payne by TaskForcePony Death Battle Revy vs Max Payne by TaskForcePony
These two skilled guns for hire are the hardest people to kill, not just due to their high skill with a gun, but they can take a hell of a lot of punishment and can just walk it off.

Revy is a part of a pirate mercenary group known as the Lagoon company and they have raided multiple targets such as Ships, military bases and more to fufill contracts set up by their employers. Revy is the main fighter of the group and is usually armed with two custom Beretta 92FS pistols but she can adapt to using other weapons like the RPG-7 rocket launcher and anti tank rifles. Revy has a hotheaded personality and usually relies on brute force, her near superhuman reaction time allows her to dodge bullets and has made her one of the deadliest fighters in the Black Lagoon franchise.

Max Payne is a former NYPD homicide detective who use to have a wife and daughter until they were brutally murdered in a home invasion, Max joined the DEA as a secret agent until he was framed for murder meaning he had to deal with criminals and police on his own avenging his family. Max is cleared by his contract from the inner circle and rejoined the NYPD and is reunited with his partner Mona Sax to solve the Inner Circle conspiracy while Max's world fell apart again. After Max left the New York for Sau Paulo Max becomes a hired security man and after his bosses daughter getting kidnapped Max goes in as a one man army taking on gangs and corrupt cops.

Which gun expert do you think will get the shot off the other and win in a battle to the death?

Revy belongs to Black Lagoon
Max Payne belongs to Rockstar Games

interesting match up. Max is a drug-addict and a drunk but has more experience and likely more knowledge of how to pace himself as well as a wider variety of weapon skills.

However he's also dependant on which weapons are around the battlefield at the time and again: he's a drug addict and drunk who hasn't even tried to recover, which will dull his abilities and hamper him severely. ESPECIALLY if the situation turns stressful and he doesn't have any booze or drugs to help him level it. Not that it would help as the way revy fights...

Revy may have some kind of personality disorder. She's very violent and very reckless on the battlefield, a combat junkie. She's probably about half of Max's age which means she's got more energy, strength and spring in her step, not to mention she's a more skilled hand-to-hand fighter and a more creative one. She doesn't have the same debilitating vices that Max suffers from, and is able to take more of a beating and shrug it off.

It would be a close call...but I'm calling Revy on this one.

While she's a psychotic (or borderline) she knows how to direct that bloodthirst in battle most of the time, and wouldn't be distracted by her personal demons. Max would put up a good fight but he's an old dog without many tricks. Not having many guns at his disposal (we would only let them have their standard armaments) means he would likely just hide and shoot but drugs and alcohol would've taken their toll on his system. He uses textbook combat strategies but Revy is a creative and aggressive fighter and would overwhelm him in the end.

or at least, that's how I see it.

I don't know man. Max isn't, and doesn't ever seem to have been a text book fighter, especially if you seen the things he can do even at an old age and how creative he is. Trust me, nothing textbook about him. At one point he even outright says chaos and luck will win the fight. Plus, the guys kills people much younger than him in piles all the time, and he is in surprisingly good shape for an old man. Especially if you can consider his bullet time a reflection of his natural reflexes. Apparently him being a drunk drug addict has only helped him be a great fighter. Max in canon has survived an incredible amount of gunshots, a building burning down, car crashes, and fights with entire gangs, professional military, and police precincts, shrugging of any injuries he took till the fight was overAnd we cant just credit that to off the counter medicine. I mean max with his standard pistols or dual pistols would probably be enough, those are his preferred weapon types anyway.

Max as max payne 3 hasn't been distracted during combat by any personal issues at all. He is no more distracted by his personal issues or alcohol than revy is by her blood lust during a fight.

I don't think you are giving max enough credit

Possibly, but we are talking about a person who has equal skill to Max. Let's cut away the psychology for a second the drug addiction, the alcoholism and the borderline personality disorder. We have two fighters with essentially the same skillset. We can't really guage Max's bullet-time as it's more of a gameplay mechanic and we can't be certain how it would effect a fight like this. While both are creative (if we take your word for it, and in this case we will) we run into one major issue.

Age.

Max, let's say, is physically more powerful than Revy, but Revy is faster, has more stamina and doesn't have the handicap of age working against her. Revy's opponents are usually psychotics in some form or another so she has learned to fight on unequal footing. Max however is...well, let's face it. he's an old man well past his prime. He simply would not have the stamina to keep up with Revy who is half his age and used to fighting the same unfair odds that max is.

Only using their pistols, Max and her would probably have an old-fashioned gunfight but Max tends to stick to cover while Revy runs in guns blazing. I'm still going to go with Revy on this because she doesn't have Max's age and the disabilities that come with it to slow her down.

That all stills boils down to the fact that max'sage hasn't stopped him from accomplishing his feats. He is an old man well past his prime who has still killed more than an army's worth of people, gone through continuous firefights through a day and still have enough energy to do the jump dodging he can. Lets face it, this drunk old man still fights like someone in their 30's. If its a handicap, its hardly a noticeable one.If we are going to use his age as a mark against him from a realistic stand point, then revy not using cover should be marked against her well. Those disabilities of max have not slowed him down in combat, especially not by the end of max Payne 3.  I don't think its fair that revy's fairly unrealistic capabilities can be used but not the things max has been shown to do in game play and set pieces. I dont know who would win, cause obviously speculation isn't fact, but max payne is far from an old push over for sure.

It's too hard to compare an animated character to a live action character. How about Revy vs Xigbar from Kingdom Hearts?

Know what'd be an awesome team up? Max Payne and The Punisher.

They're both so much alike. :D

it takes more than experience to win a fight, like Max said before "The trick in my situation was that there was no trick, no matter what the movies tell you. No rules, no secret mantra, no road map. It wasn't about how smart or how good you were. It was chaos and luck, and anyone who thought different was a fool. All you could do was to hang on madly, as long and hard as you could."
